Used in dishes where the appearance of the pod is important. They are longer, thicker, and have a higher moisture content than Grade B pods, ranging from 30–35% compared to the 12–25% of Grade B. They are also shinier and oilier, with a rich dark color and a strong, sweet aroma. Grade A pods are free of blemishes and defects, and are generally at least 6 inches (15 cm) long and weigh at least 3.7 grams.
